Job description
This position requires the employee to work in a dual role capacity as a therapist and forensic interviewer. Employee must be licensed or provisionally licensed to conduct therapy in Wyoming or be eligible for licensure in Wyoming.
Employee must also be able to pass background checks.
Summary:
The therapist serves as a member of the CAP team to provide individual, family, and group mental health services to children and their non-offending family members. This position is responsible for promoting a multidisciplinary approach to the investigation of child maltreatment in the CAP facility by conducting forensic interviews of child victims and/or by serving as a mental health resource for investigators and case planners. Will be required to attend training related to specific trauma-based therapy modalities, attend forensic interviewer trainings, implement forensic interview protocols and provide on-going education to law enforcement, social services and prosecutors.
Qualification Requirements:
Highly motivated person, possessing organizational skills with attention to details and ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively and with discretion.
Able to function as a team player with initiative and flexibility.
Knowledge of child abuse system and family dynamics of child abuse.
Excellent people and communication skills.
Computer literate.
Willingness to attend related trainings in forensic interviewing, child counseling and child maltreatment.
Education and Experience:
LPC, LCSW, Masters of Social Work, MA in Marriage or Family Therapy, Counseling or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience working with children / adolescents / families facing complex issues. Provisional licensure supervision available for those not yet licensed.
Possess knowledge of post-traumatic stress symptoms, stages of child development, dynamics of sexual abuse and family violence, and crisis intervention techniques. Preferable experience would include training in forensic interviewing and extended forensic evaluations of child victims of sexual abuse, and familiarity with Children’s Advocacy Centers.
Work Record:
A demonstrated record of professional competence and dependability with evidence of the ability to work in a team environment is essential. A proven history of collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills with peers is required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and analyze articles, reports and general information in the field of child maltreatment. Ability to communicate well orally; develop and write reports, correspondence and notes about clients and services at the center. Fluency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language is a plus.
Reasoning ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Team Work:
Requires ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to promote multidisciplinary team approach and build and enhance teamwork in the child advocacy setting.
Sensitivity to the Needs of Special Populations:
Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups served by the CAP program. Special population groups include those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, etc.

Work Environment:

Salary:
This position is a full-time salaried position, with pay depending on experience and licensure status.
